FutureFuel has hired a former executive of Royal DSM to be its next chief executive.

The Clayton, Mo.-based chemical and biofuels company said Tuesday that Roeland Polet is poised to take the helm on Sept. 3. He succeeds Tom McKinlay, who announced his plan to retire earlier this year.

Polet held management roles at Royal DSM from 2015 to 2023, ultimately serving as chief executive of DSM Materials. Royal DSM merged with fragrance-and-flavor company Firmenich SA in 2023 to create DSM-Firmenich.

Before that, Polet served in leadership roles at Valspar, Celanese and Carbolite Foods.
