Forward Air Clearlake Capital flipped from a passive to an active investor in the freight and logistics company. The private-equity firm owns 3,825,000 shares, or 13.8% of shares outstanding. Clearlake acquired its entire holding this year, paying about $102.6 million, or $26.82 per share, but the firm hasn't bought shares since June.
Southwest Airlines Elliott Management nominated a slate of directors to serve on the airline's board, and increased its ownership to 48,948,500 Southwest Airlines shares, or 8.2% of shares outstanding. The firm bought seven million shares at prices ranging from $24.48 to $25.55 from Aug. 6 through Aug. 13. Elliott's nominees include four former airline CEOs. The firm has recommended reconstituting Southwest's board, bringing in a new CEO and a new independent chair, and undergoing a comprehensive business review.
Increases in Holdings
Bitdeer Technologies Group Cryptocurrency company Tether Holdings increased its stake in the blockchain specialist to 25,587,360 shares, or 27.2% of shares outstanding. Tether bought two million Bitdeer Technologies Group shares at prices ranging from $7.19 to $8.30 each from Aug. 5 through Aug. 7. Tether acquired its initial stake in Bitdeer with a $150 million investment on May 31.
Talos Energy Carlos Slim increased his holdings in the oil-and-gas exploration-and-production firm to 40,138,904 shares, or 22.3% of shares outstanding. The Mexican billionaire purchased 2,166,000 Talos Energy shares at an average price of $10.76 each from July 30 through Aug. 7. Shares have dropped about 16% so far this year.
Decreases in Holdings
Janux Therapeutics OrbiMed Advisors decreased its holding in the clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company to 1,965,266 shares, or 3.8% of shares outstanding. The firm sold 2,310,287 Janux Therapeutics shares from June 3 through July 31 at prices ranging from $41.05 to $55.01 each.
Rocket Lab USA Kholsa Ventures reduced its stake in the provider of aerospace manufacturing and launch services to 65,263,482 shares, or 13.3% of shares outstanding. The firm distributed 14,590,148 Rocket Lab USA shares to its general partners, limited partners, and members on Aug. 12.
US Foods Holding Sachem Head Capital Management decreased its stake in the provider of food and nonfood products to food-service customers to 9,712,169 shares, or 3.9% of shares outstanding. The firm sold four million US Foods Holding shares back to that company at a price of $52.85 each on Aug. 13.
