Xiaomi's New Handset Could Keep Smartphone Business Growing in 2H -- Market Talk

Dow Jones08-22

0842 GMT - Xiaomi's smartphone business could keep growing in 2H despite a high base last year, DBS analyst Jim Au says in a research note. The Xiaomi 15 series equipped with Qualcomm's most advanced AI chip, to be launched in October, could achieve 25% shipment growth compared with the Xiaomi 14 series, putting it in prime position for the phone replacement cycle in 2025, the analyst says. In the long term, margin pressure on the company's smartphone segment could be partially alleviated by higher average sale prices as it focuses on premium products, the analyst says. DBS maintains a buy call on Xiaomi with a HK$23.00 target. Shares closed HK$19.10. (sherry.qin@wsj.com)
