The shortages may squeeze world export prices, especially as Russian wheat production retreats from previously reported improvement, the bank said. Most-active wheat for December delivery (W_1:COM) on the Chicago Board of Trade settled +1% to $5.59 per bushel, while November soybeans (S_1:COM) ended +0.1% to $5.28 3/4 per bushel and December corn finished -0.4% to $3.98 1/2 per bushel. ETFs: (NYSEARCA:WEAT), (NYSEARCA:SOYB), (NYSEARCA:CORN), (DBA), (MOO) Corn prices have fallen below $4 per bushel to their lowest levels in nearly four years on plentiful U.S. supplies, but their \"shared history\" with U.S. crude oil may offer the biggest clue on what they do next, according to analysts at Teucrium, which see corn under $4 as a potential investment opportunity. Investors should \"think about corn the way they think about oil\" because of \"really significant price patterns both corn and crude oil have repeated over the past two decades,\" Teucrium Trading chief investment officer Sal Gilbertie told Marketwatch. Gilbertie said corn prices have doubled from ~$3.50 to more than $7 three times since 2007, with every rally beginning at the $3.50-$4 price range, which is widely thought to be the futures equivalent cost of production for U.S. farmers. Similarly, whenever U.S. WTI crude falls much below the $40-$50/bbl range, which the industry considers at or below nearly everyone's cost of production, prices tend to rally significantly and often peak at a price double from the start of the rally, according to Gilbertie.
