YHI International Unit Fined SG$200,000 for Fatal Workplace Accident

YHI International (SGX:BPF) said its unit, YHI Corporation (Singapore), was fined SG$200,000 following a fatal workplace accident on July 3, 2021, according to a Monday filing on the Singapore Exchange.

The fine was imposed under section 12(1) of the Workplace Safety and Health Act 2006 (WSHA).

YHI International Chief Operating Officer Ong Chin Kiong, who was also held accountable under section 48(1) of the WSHA for the same incident, was fined SG$150,000. Both YHI Singapore and Ong have decided not to appeal their sentences and will pay the fines in full.

The company stated that the fine will not materially impact its net tangible assets or earnings per share for the financial year ending Dec. 31, 2024.
