European Chip Stocks Follow Nvidia, Asian Rivals Lower -- Market Talk

Dow Jones09-04

0902 GMT - Shares of European semiconductor companies edged lower Wednesday following declines by Asian rivals after U.S. artificial-intelligence chip giant Nvidia slumped overnight. Data showing continued weakness in demand for U.S. factories Tuesday renewed fears of an economic slowdown, prompting a broader market selloff. On Wednesday, shares of Dutch semiconductor-equipment maker ASML Holding lost more than 4%, while smaller peer ASM International fell 3.9%. Elsewhere in the continent, shares of Infineon Technologies and Apple supplier STMicroelectronics dropped about 2.5%. (mauro.orru@wsj.com)
