Athira Pharma (ATHA) shares plunged 78% after the company said overnight that its phase 2/3 trial of fosgonimeton in people with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease failed to meet the primary and key secondary endpoints.

More than 14.6 million shares traded intraday compared with a daily average of about 172,000.

Oragenics (OGEN) said Wednesday that it priced a public offering of about 8.11 million shares at $0.55 apiece for gross proceeds of about $4.45 million. The stock closed at $1.07 Tuesday.

Shares slumped 44%, with intraday trading volume at over 2.43 million compared with a daily average of about 601,000.

Dollar Tree (DLTR) reported lower-than-expected Q2 results and reduced its outlook for the full financial year.

Shares dropped 24% as intraday trading volume rose to over 22 million from a daily average of about 2.95 million.
