The wholesale price of Kweichow Moutai's (SHA:600519) flagship liquor continues to decline due to expectations of weak demand, according to a Sept. 4 report on Yicai Global.
The price of a Feitian Moutai bottle dropped 15% year on year to 2,365 yuan while the cost of a multi-bottle pack dropped 11% on a yearly basis to 2,660 yuan, according to data from Jinri Jiujia, a private pricing platform.
Liquor sellers in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Jinan, and Nanjing told Yicai that pessimistic market expectations for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival holiday dragged down the prices as the consumption for high-end spirits slowed down in recent years.
Another reason for the price decline is that e-commerce platforms are selling the first-class baijiu product on cheaper wholesale prices, the report added.
