Sintx Technologies Receives USPTO Notice of Allowance for Silicon Nitride Application in Medical Devices

MT Newswires Live09-09

Sintx Technologies (SINT) said Monday it has received a Notice of Allowance from the US Patent and Trademark Office for a patent application related to methods of bonding bioactive silicon nitride to zirconia-toughened alumina for biomedical applications.

A notice of allowance is a written confirmation that a patent application has passed the opposition period but is not yet registered, according to the US Patent and Trademark Office's website.

Sintx said the patent, once finalized, will support its intellectual property portfolio and its position in ceramic biomaterials. The technology is expected to support osseointegration and bacterial resistance in medical devices by applying silicon nitride's properties to inert ceramic surfaces, the ceramics manufacturer added.
