Spire Global Awarded $3.8 Million Contract From National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to Provide Radio Occultation Data

Spire Global (SPIR) said Monday it was awarded a $3.8 million contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to provide radio occultation data for one year, starting Sept. 18.

Under the contract, Spire-provided radio occultation data, which includes global vertical profiles of atmospheric pressure, humidity and temperature, will be used by the NOAA for operational weather forecasts, space weather models and climate research.

The award is part of the $59 million contract under NOAA's Commercial Weather Data Program's Radio Occultation Data Buy II.
