China Coal Energy's Coal Production Rises Marginally in August, Sales Fall 1%

China Coal Energy's (HKG:1898, SHA:601898) production volume of commercial coal increased by 0.6% year-on-year in August this year to 11.8 million tons from 11.7 million tons from August last year, a Thursday filing with the Bourse stated.

The company made a sales volume of 23.9 million tons for August, 1.4% lower than the 24.3 million tons from a year ago.

For the eight months ended Aug. 31, production rose by 0.2% to 90.4 million tons from a little less than 90.3 million tons a year ago while sales plunged 6.8% to 180.9 million tons from 194.0 million tons in the prior-year period, the filing said.

The coal producer's shares closed nearly 2% higher on Thursday.
