Planters May Benefit from Indonesia's Potential Lower Palm Oil Export Levies -- Market Talk

Dow Jones09-09

0315 GMT - Indonesia's potential reduction in palm oil export levies could positively impact planters operating in the country, Maybank analyst Ong Chee Ting says in a note. According to media reports, Indonesia plans to lower its CPO and palm derivatives export levies to better compete with rival oils, Ong says. The potential levy reduction would come on top of recent relaxations in export restrictions for the domestic producers, he adds. Maybank maintains a neutral rating on Southeast Asia's plantations sector, and pegs SD Guthrie, Sarawak Oil Palms, TA Ann Holdings and Bumitama Agri at buy.(yingxian.wong@wsj.com)
