Petratherm (ASX:PTR) found titanium-rich mineral sands from a recent evaluation of historic drill results coupled with recent mapping and surface sampling programs conducted at the Muckanippie project in South Australia, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.
The exploration programs yielded up to 50% titanium dioxide, a critical material used in electric vehicles, battery storage, and wind technology, with further applications as a steel alloy, the filing said.
Petratherm shares surged 85% in recent Wednesday trade.
