A poll released Monday by Pew Research of 8,044 registered voters from Aug. 26 to Sept. 2 showed the race tied at 49%-49%. Most other recent polls have had each candidate up within the surveys’ margin of error.  According to Bahnsen, investors will be on the lookout for specifics on tax policy, tariffs and deficit spending, among other issues. However, “we are unlikely to hear any meaningful specifics in Tuesday’s debate beyond mere platitudes,” he said.  The debate, which is being hosted by ABC News, will air on the broadcast and cable news networks at 9 p.m. ET. Meanwhile, on the markets (SP500), Bahnsen said the firm is more concerned about volatility for the rest of the year than the direction of equities.  “Volatility will be elevated due to uncertainty around the Federal Reserve, the election, geopolitics and the repricing that's taking place where money is moving out of overvalued tech stocks and into value stocks,” he said.  Bahnsen said he expects the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates by 25 basis points next week, “with a heavy foreshadowing of a 50 basis-point cut” at its November meeting. He added that he doesn’t expect Wednesday’s inflation report will change the consensus of a 25 basis-point cut.
