Air China's Passenger Capacity Up 12% in August

Air China's (HKG:0753, SHA:601111) passenger capacity rose 12.4% year over year to 33.65 billion available seat kilometers (ASK) in August, according to a Friday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

Domestic passenger capacity was 0.5% down at 23.21 billion ASK, while international passenger capacity surged 69.5% to 8.89 billion ASK.

Passenger count jumped 14.9% to 15.3 million, with domestic passenger load rising 9% to 13.1 million and international passenger load surging 94.6% to 1.6 million.

Transport capacity grew 12.5% to 4.05 billion available ton-kilometers. International transport capacity jumped 63.5% to 1.28 billion available ton-kilometers, while domestic transport capacity declined 2.5% to 2.66 billion available ton-kilometers.

As of the end of August, Air China operated 921 aircraft, including 411 owned aircraft, 214 finance-leased aircraft, and 296 operating-leased aircraft.
