China Shenhua Energy's Coal Sales Flat in August

China Shenhua Energy (HKG:1088, SHA:601088) sold 38.7 million tonnes of coal in August, unchanged from last year, according to a Friday filing on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

The company's commercial coal production rose 1.8% year over year to 27.8 million tonnes from 27.3 million tonnes.

The power company's gross power generation dropped 15.3% year on year to 22.09 billion kilowatt-hours from 19.16 billion kWh.

For the first eight months of 2024, coal sales grew 4.7% year on year to 308.4 million tonnes, while coal output went up 1.4% to 217.8 million tonnes.

Gross power generation rose 4.6% year on year in the January-August period to 146.16 billion kWh, the Friday disclosure added.

Shares of Shenhua Energy fell marginally in H long Kong in recent trading.
