0228 GMT - China's August data suggests household consumption remains the weak link of the economy, but strong potential for growth remains, CCB International economists say in a note. Policies to encourage big-ticket purchase of consumer goods appear to have had limited effect, say Li Cui and Huiting Yan, adding that softer auto sales after the strong performance last year also remains a headwind. The soft data calls for more policy support to stabilize income and growth expectations, they say. With fiscal spending lagging behind nominal growth, the economists expect stronger fiscal spending in the coming months, and continued liquidity accommodation to shore up the cyclical economy.
