Melbana Energy's (ASX:MAY) subsidiary secured a petroleum exploration permit for the Dampier sub-basin within the Northern Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.
The permit has a duration of six years, with the application filed under the Australian government's 2022 Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release, the filing said.
