POET Technologies (POET) said Thursday that it will develop integrated optical engine chipsets for 3.2 terabits, or T, pluggable transceivers jointly with Mitsubishi Electric.
Mitsubishi Electric will provide its 400G electro-absorption modulator lasers and POET will use its optical interposer technology to combine these lasers with other components to create 1.6T and 3.2T chipsets.
The companies aim to complete these chipsets by early 2025 and demonstrate the technology in H1, POET added.
Pluggable transceivers are key for optical connectivity in the growing artificial intelligence networking market, the company said.
