John Wiley & Sons is parting ways with its top finance executive.

Wiley on Wednesday said Christina Van Tassell, who joined the Hoboken, N.J., research and education publisher as executive vice president and chief financial officer in late 2021, is leaving on Oct. 1 in a departure without cause, making her eligible for separation benefits.

Wiley didn't disclose a reason for Van Tassell's departure but said it wasn't due to any disagreement with the company or any matter relating to its operations, policies or practices.

Van Tassell earned a base salary of $650,000 and total compensation of nearly $2.97 million in fiscal 2024.

Wiley said it has launched a search for a new chief financial officer, adding that Christopher Caridi, its corporate controller and chief accounting officer, is stepping in as interim finance chief.

Caridi, 58 years old, initially joined Wiley in March 2017 then left for a brief stint in 2020 to join Teladoc Healthcare before rejoining Wiley later that year in his current post.
