Excelerate Energy will purchase a reliquefaction system from Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, part of technology group Wärtsilä.

The Woodlands, Texas, natural gas company said on Thursday that the system will be used for a retrofit installation onboard one of its floating storage regasification units.

The company didn't disclose a purchase price, but said the system is scheduled for delivery in early 2026.

The project, which can be installed on any of Excelerate's existing vessels based on customer demand, will improve the environmental footprint of the company's floating storage regasification units operations by reliquefying boil-off gas and returning it back to the cargo tanks, the company said.

The system is also fitted with the latest technology and features to minimize maintenance and operational costs, it added.
