Hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is now being held alongside fallen cryptocurrency tycoon Sam Bankman-Fried in a federal jail in New York, people familiar with the matter said.
Both men are in the same dormitory-style unit in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, which often houses high-profile inmates, the people said. Combs has been jailed since his arrest last week on sex-trafficking charges, but he was only transferred to Bankman-Fried's unit of the MDC on Monday, they said. Combs has pleaded not guilty.
Bankman-Fried, founder of the failed FTX crypto exchange, was sentenced to 25 years in prison earlier this year after a jury convicted him of fraud and conspiracy. The judge who oversaw Bankman-Fried's trial agreed to let him stay temporarily at the Brooklyn jail while he is working on his appeal, before he is moved to a federal prison to serve out his sentence.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to comment.
