The portable reactor is designed to be transported to remote military bases that need power, and may one day be deployed on the moon or Mars. The plan is to begin testing the reactor prototype at the Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 2026. \"We are thrilled to move beyond the era of PowerPoint advanced reactors,\" Jeff Waksman, Project Pele program manager, said in a statement.  BWXT Advanced Technologies (NYSE:BWXT) will begin assembling the reactor in February 2025, after which it will be transported to the Idaho test site to begin testing the following year. Northrop Grumman (NOC), Rolls Royce Liberty Works (OTCPK:RYCEY) (OTCPK:RYCEF) and Torch Technologies also have important roles in Project Pele, according to the Pentagon.
