Embraer (ERJ) said Wednesday it is in discussions with the South African National Defence Force, or SANDF, to sell its C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft.
The company demonstrated the C-390 Millennium aircraft at the Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition that took place at Waterkloof Air Force Base.
The aircraft is "well suited" to fulfill the requirements of the SANDF and other government bodies, according to Embraer Defense & Security Chief Executive Bosco da Costa Junior.
SANDF said it had the "opportunity" to evaluate the C-390 Millennium and it has "shown interest" in the aircraft as it advances the required steps to select it.
Embraer did not disclose the number of aircraft it would sell or provide details on the current status of the potential deal.
Shares of the company were up 1% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
