Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) said Thursday it has agreed to build a private compressed natural gas fueling station for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, or Metro.

The company said the facility will serve up to 120 of Metro's natural gas-powered transit buses operating in Houston and beyond, and is expected to have an annual consumption of 2 million gallons of CNG.

Construction of the station, which will be the first of its kind, is anticipated to start early next year at the Hiram Clarke facility in southwest Houston, the company said.
