Chesapeake Energy (CHK) and Southwestern Energy (SWN) said Thursday that the waiting period for their proposed merger under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act has expired.
The companies said they expect the merger to be completed within the first week of next month.
The new combined entity will trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "EXE," the companies said.
