The SSE Composite Index (SHCOMP) also registered its ninth straight day of gains, as the market starts its week long holiday from October 1, on account of the China National Day. Out of the 2230 stocks in the Shanghai Composite (SHCOMP) there were no decliners.  The index is up ~20% from recent lows, the technical definition of a bull market. The blue-chip CSI 300 Index (SHSZ300) rallied 8.5%. Hong Kong Hang Sent (HSI) gained 2.4%. The moves come after China's manufacturing activity slightly improved in September 2024 from August's six-month low, surpassing expectations. The official NBS Manufacturing PMI in China rose to 49.8 in September 2024, up from August’s six-month low of 49.1. However, a private survey revealed an unexpected fall in manufacturing, pointing to the sharpest contraction since January 2023. The Caixin China General Manufacturing PMI fell to 49.3 in September 2024 from August's 50.4. The strong rally comes as traders hope that there will be significant stimulus measures that will be announced soon.  The moves also come a day after, The People's Bank of China said that it would order banks to reduce mortgage rates for existing home loans before October 31 amid efforts to support the property sector.
