Santana Minerals' Gold Project Granted Fast-Track Status by New Zealand Government; Shares Jump 11%

Santana Minerals' (ASX:SMI) Bendigo-Ophir Gold Project in Central Otago, New Zealand received a "fast-track project" designation under Schedule 2 of the coalition government's Fast Track Approvals Bill, according to a Monday filing with the New Zealand bourse.

The company completed environmental baseline studies in preparation for the mine's approvals.

The Fast Track Approvals Bill is expected to be reported back from the Select Committee on Oct. 18, with Schedule 2 to be incorporated later this year, and the bill is expected to come by year-end, the filing stated.

Santana Minerals shares rose past 11% in early Monday trade in New Zealand.
