Telecom firm KT (KRX:030200) partnered with Microsoft (HK:4338) to invest $1.77 billion in South Korea's artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure over five years, Pulse reported Friday.
The parties will invest in data centers, infrastructure, research and development and AI talent cultivation to introduce a Korean-language AI model based on GPT-4o by 2025 and AI models for the public and financial sectors, the report said.
The two companies are also said to collaborate in AI applications in healthcare and mobility among other industries and hold joint research and development in AI hardware.
As part of the tie-up, Microsoft's conversational AI tool Copilot will also be integrated into KT's services, according to the report.
The two will also work together to offer cloud services for the country's public and financial sectors, the report said.
The partnership with Microsoft is expected to generate 4.6 trillion won in cumulative revenue by 2029, the news outlet reported.
