While the restaurant sector in general will be impacted by the storm, Guggenheim warned on Wednesday that Hurricane Milton will have an outsized impact on certain chains. Analyst Gregory Francfort noted that First Watch Group (NASDAQ:FWRG) is the most exposed stock in its coverage to the storm, followed by Bloomin’ Brands (NASDAQ:BLMN). To a lesser degree, Dutch Bros. (NYSE:BROS) could have added exposure due to the expansion push it has planned for Florida. Notably, First Watch (FWRG) is headquartered in Bradenton, Florida and many of its locations in the state are in the Tampa and Fort Myers markets. \"When Hurricane Ian hit in late 2022, First Watch temporarily closed 85 restaurants for at least one day, including 10 stores that were closed for more than a week (one of which had to be re-built). When 4Q22 was finally reported, FWRG noted that the combination of Hurricane Ian, Winter Storm Elliott, and a holiday shift had 210bps of sales drag on the quarter,\" highlighted Francfort. Guggenheim expects second-half sales for First Watch (FWRG) to come in modestly below consensus, but labor management to blunt that downside.
