Piedmont Lithium (PLL) said Wednesday the Ewoyaa Lithium Project, a joint venture with Atlantic Lithium, received a mine operating permit from the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
Atlantic Lithium is an Africa-focused lithium exploration and development corporation. Piedmont is a North American supplier of lithium products, which are critical to electric vehicles, the company said.
The Ewoyaa Lithium Project will be Ghana's first lithium mining project.
Atlantic Lithium said it is awaiting final ratification of the Ewoyaa lease from Ghana's parliament, which sits next on Oct. 15.
