Chinese-branded, Android-powered mobile phones helped lead a global rise in smartphone shipments in the third quarter despite global economic uncertainty, according to data from research firm IDC released Monday.
Xiaomi (HKG:1810) shipped 42.8 million phones for a 13.1% market share at third place. Oppo shipped 28.8 million phones with a 9.1% market share at fourth, while Vivo shipped 27 million phones, taking up an 8.5% market share at fifth.
South Korea's Samsung (KRX:005930) led the pack with 57.8 million shipments in Q3 with an 18.3% market share while Apple is second with 56 million phone shipments and a 17.7% market share.
