Market Chatter: China's Wind Turbine Makers Call for An End to Price War

MT Newswires Live10-18

China's major wind-turbine manufacturers, including Goldwind (HKG:2208, SHE:002202), Envision, and Mingyang Smart Energy, intend to end the industry's persistent price war, looking to improve self-discipline in setting prices, South China Morning Post reported Thursday.

Industry members want to consider the bigger picture, including the life cycle of the turbines and hope that the industry regains its rationality. They accepted that the price war hurt everyone's business. China has 76 gigawatts (GW) of wind capacity, which is two-thirds of the world's capacity, the publication said.

A few days back, China's solar panel-making industry also vowed to work together and avoid price wars within the industry, SCMP said.
