Huadian Power International (HKG:1071, SHA:600027) generated total power of 168.5 million megawatt-hours for the first three quarters of 2024, down nearly 2.5% from a year prior, a Wednesday bourse filing said.
The total amount of on-grid electricity sold also fell by around 2.5% to 157.7 million megawatt-hours, according to the operator of coal- and gas-fired power plants.
The firm attributed the lower power output mainly to a higher hydropower generation, reducing the electricity consumption of its coal-fired power generating units.
The average tariff of on-grid electricity sold stood at 510.46 per megawatt-hour for the first three quarters, a drop of nearly 1.5% year over year.
Hong Kong- and China-listed shares of the company closed over 3% and nearly 2% lower, respectively, on Wednesday.
