The Canadian central bank's larger-than-usual rate cut seeks to support economic growth and keep inflation near the middle of the 1%-3% range. The bank expects the Canadian economy to grow 1.75% in H2, slowing from ~2% in the first half of the year. The labor market stayed soft, with the unemployment rate at 6.5% in September. \"Overall, the economy continues to be in excess supply,\" it said. \"The Bank’s preferred measures of core inflation are now below 2½%.
