Woori Financial's Push to Bolster Capital Could Improve Shareholder Returns -- Market Talk

0223 GMT - Woori Financial Group's efforts to bolster its capital to better withstand financial distress could improve shareholder returns, Daiwa Capital analysts Mike Oh and Daeho Son write in a note. They are upbeat on the South Korean lender's push to keep its risk-weighted asset growth under 4.0% in 2025. They forecast total shareholder return of 35.1%-39.0% during the 2024-2026 period for Woori Financial. They also expect Woori to buy back 175 billion won to 250 billion won of shares for 2025 through 2026. Daiwa raises its target for the stock by 15% to 19,500 won and keeps an outperform rating.
