Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Mixed After Midday Trading

Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded fund IWM fell and IVV rose. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was 0.7% higher.

US equity indexes traded mixed as yields on government bonds fell following sharp recent gains while Tesla (TSLA) rallied after reporting its Q3 results overnight.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) fell 0.2% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) was down 0.3%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rose 0.1%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) added 0.2%, while iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) was 0.3% higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) was flat, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) gained 0.4%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) dipped 0.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) lost 0.3%, and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) rose 0.1%.

Commodities

Crude oil was down 1.3%; United States Oil Fund (USO) lost 1.5%. Natural gas climbed 5.3%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) rose 0.8%.

Gold was up 0.6% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) rose 0.7%. Silver shed 0.2%, while iShares Silver Trust (SLV) retreated 0.1%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) was down 0.2%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were in the red.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) edged 3% higher; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) dropped 0.4% while SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) dipped 0.1%.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) fell 0.3%; iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was down 0.3%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) dropped 0.6%, while Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were lower.
