Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Flat to Higher Premarket Friday

Consumer stocks were flat to higher premarket Friday as the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was inactive and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) was up 0.3% recently.

Tapestry (TPR) said it plans to appeal a US federal court decision granting the Federal Trade Commission's request to block its acquisition of Capri Holdings (CPRI). Capri Holdings shares tumbled by over 47% pre-bell.

Coursera (COUR) shares declined by over 18% after the online learning company lowered its 2024 revenue outlook.

Newell Brands Inc (NWL) shares rose past 18% after the company raised its full-year 2024 outlook for adjusted earnings per share.
