Impala Platinum Books Slight Beat to Expectations -- Market Talk

Dow Jones10-30

1023 GMT - Impala Platinum's better-than-expected production results should be well-received by the market, Citi analysts say in a note. The South African miner reported a 5% fall in concentrate production, in line with Citi's estimates. Adjusting for inventory increases at its Zimplats subsidiary, production likely fell 3%, slightly more than forecast. Looking ahead, Implats' investment case depends on cost containment and its Royal Bafokeng asset ramp-up, Citi says. Shares are down 5.7% at 120.21 South African rand. (christian.moess@wsj.com)
