Financial stocks rose in Friday's pre-bell session with the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) 0.4% higher recently.
The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 1.2% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 1.2% lower.
Nomura Holdings (NMR) shares were up over 2% after the company reported higher fiscal Q2 net income and revenue.
William Penn Bancorporation (WMPN) shares advanced by over 3% after the company and Mid Penn Bancorp (MPB) said they have entered into a definitive agreement for William Penn to merge with Mid Penn in an all-stock transaction valued at about $127 million, or $13.58 per William Penn share.
LyondellBasell Industries (LYB) fell by over 1% after the company reported lower Q3 adjusted earnings and sales.
