Media Companies Get Advertising Boost Ahead of Election -- Market Talk

09:23 ET -- Political advertising ahead of the presidential election is lifting media companies' results. Local-TV operator E.W. Scripps says Monday that political advertising revenue helped boost revenue and was expected to beat previous guidance, while Fox's profit doubled on strength in political advertising and in its free streaming service Tubi. The New York Times, meanwhile, reported an 8.8% increase in digital advertising revenue, which it attributed to growth in open-market programmatic advertising.(ben.glickman@wsj.com; @benglickman)
