Intel's Outlook Encouraging But Chipmaker Still Expected to Struggle -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-01

0959 ET - Intel posted a stunning $16.6 billion loss in 3Q but offered guidance for sales growth in the current quarter that was above expectations. "While Intel continued to cede market share to AMD and Nvidia across the majority of its businesses, its data center segment performed better than originally guided," says Benchmark's Cody Acree. But the analyst thinks Intel will continue struggle on both the product design and manufacturing fronts, "when comparing its process capability to TSMC's industry leadership and its product growth rates to AMD and Nvidia," he says. Intel climbs 5.2% to $22.67. (denny.jacob@wsj.com; @pennedbyden)
