Energy stocks were advancing premarket Friday with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) 0.1% higher recently.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 0.8% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 1.2% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 2.6% higher at $71.06 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 2.3% to $74.47 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 0.8% at $2.69 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Baytex Energy (BTE) shares were up over 2% after the company reported an increase in Q3 net income.
Exxon Mobil (XOM) shares rose past 2% after the company reported lower Q3 earnings and revenue that still met and topped analysts' expectations, respectively.
Chevron (CVX) shares rose 2% despite the company reporting lower Q3 adjusted earnings and revenue.
