With the AP calling North Carolina for Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris's path to the White House just got a lot narrower - but it still exists. Harris's campaign has always said they could win the Blue Wall states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania-which, along with the one electoral college vote from Nebraska's second congressional district, is all she needs to prevail.
"We have known all along that our clearest path to 270 electoral votes lies through the Blue Wall states," said Harris campaign manager Jennifer O'Malley Dillion in an email to campaign staff, where she urged staff to get some sleep. She added there are positive signs in all three states.
Separately, a Wisconsin Democrat predicted that the state will be razor close, and will be "scary" for party loyalists until Milwaukee absentee ballots are counted, which will be quite late.
Also vote counting won't end in Arizona or Nevada for hours, if not days. The Blue Wall states typically tilt the same way in presidential elections, a function of their similar demographics. But this year could be different for a myriad of reasons including how Arab Americans vote in Michigan.
