Chinese automobile maker Seres Group (SHA:601127) denied speculations that it plans to produce humanoid robots, according to a Shanghai Stock Exchange filing on Tuesday.
The statement came after reports circulated online that the company is planning to set up a humanoid robotics business.
The company clarified that it has not signed any deals with any partners to develop such technology and it has no intention of leading a "humanoid robot technology forum."
It said it maintains its focus on the development of new energy vehicles, while "paying attention to the exploration and development of cutting-edge technologies in related fields."
The company's shares rose nearly 10% in recent trade in Shanghai.
