Market Chatter: NIO to Launch First Hybrid Model Overseas in 2026; Shares Down 3%

MT Newswires Live11-05

Electric vehicle carmaker NIO (HKG:9866) will launch its first hybrid model in late 2026 for sale only in overseas markets, Reuters reported Monday, citing people privy to the matter.

The move was based on NIO investor Abu Dhabi investment vehicle CYVN Holdings' suggestion to sell hybrid models in Middle Eastern markets, where the infrastructure is still inadequate for mass adoption of electric vehicles, according to the report.

The delivery of the hybrid models, which will be under the Firefly brand, will start in 2027, Reuters wrote.

NIO shares were down 3% in recent trade.
