Huntington Ingalls Industries received a $197 million contract to support the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command's research and development facility for advanced technology in ground systems.

Under the five-year task order, the military shipbuilder will develop enhancements for the facility's ground combat systems and service lifecycle efforts, the company said Wednesday. The research will focus on vehicle power and mobility, and results will be applied to the full suite of Army vehicles.

Work will primarily take place at the army's facility in Warren, Mich., the company said.
