News Corp named Lavanya Chandrashekar as its next chief financial officer, succeeding Susan Panuccio, who plans to step down from the role on Jan. 1.

Chandrashekar, 52, has nearly 30 years of experience in international finance and investor relations, the New York media company said Thursday. She most recently served as chief financial officer at Diageo, and previously held senior positions at Procter & Gamble and Mondelēz.

In the role, Chandrashekar will receive an annual base salary of $1.4 million, in addition to incentive awards.

After stepping down, Panuccio is expected to serve in an advisory position for six months, helping to ensure a smooth transition. She said she plans "to take some much-desired time off to spend with my family."

News Corp is the parent company of Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires.
