Banco Santander Says Cooperating With SEC Over Inquiry About Unapproved Messaging Platforms

MT Newswires Live11-08

Banco Santander (SAN) said in a regulatory filing Wednesday that its US markets unit is cooperating with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in regards to an inquiry into the use of unauthorized messaging platforms.

The SEC inquiry "follows a number of regulatory settlements with other firms covering similar matters," the bank said in the filing.

A Santander representative and the SEC did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

In June, a person familiar with the matter told MT Newswires that Banco Santander had again asked its investment bankers in Spain to remove unauthorized messaging software from company-issued devices.
