Sentiment Among Hong Kong SMEs Improves in October

MT Newswires Live11-12

Business sentiment among small and medium-sized businesses in Hong Kong brightened in October despite staying within contractionary territory, according to data from the city's census and statistics department released Monday.

The improvement came with the rise in the current diffusion index on business receipts among SMEs in the city to 42.3 in October from 41.6 in September.

For November, the outlook for the current diffusion index is 47.3.

For imports and exports, the current diffusion index rose to 44.7 in October from 44.5 in September, the filing said.

The loosening of financial conditions, alongside mainland China's measures for supporting Hong Kong should help prop up optimism, but economic uncertainties could undermine the positive impacts, the department said.
